The Stemmann Dental Collection
In the basement of our house in Hamburg, Germany is the private dental collection of Hartmut Stemmann (1932-2014). The master dental technician took over the inventory of his grandfather (Heinrich S., dental artist since 1899) in 1956. Since then, he was gripped by a passion for collecting and thus an extensive collection of dental prostheses, articulators, dental technical devices, tools and materials from the years 1850 to the present was created. Since 2014, the collection has been continued by Hjalmar Stemmann, founder of steco-system-technik and co-owner of the dental laboratory Stemmann & Leisner Mund-, Kiefer- und Gesichtstechnik. Exhibits from the Stemmann dental collection can also be found in the Medical History Museum of the University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf and can be viewed there regularly.
Some special exhibits will be presented by Steco on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the International Dental Show at IDS 2023, which will take place in Cologne from 14 – 18 March 2023. Feel free to come by and take a look at the mini museum live – in Hall 1.2 – Stand A039 at Steco. The centrepiece is the over 100-year-old dental workstation of the dental artist Heinrich Stemmann.
