But all day use somtimes reveals, what works well in theory can be a practical challenge.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>The initial situation<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">This case involves an elderly patient with severe rheumatoid arthritis in her hands (Fig. 1)<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">She wears a lower denture anchored to implants via locator abutments (Fig. 2). These abutments typically provide a very secure hold \u2013 which is generally desirable.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>However, this very secure hold becomes a problem in this case:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The patient lacks sufficient hand strength.<\/li>\n<li>Removing the denture is very difficult.<\/li>\n<li>Even inserting it is not controlled.<\/li>\n<li>Instead, she bites the denture into position, gradually damaging the matrices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>The consequences in everyday life<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>This seemingly minor problem has noticeable consequences:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The matrices (Fig. 3) (plastic inserts in the denture) wear out quickly.<\/li>\n<li>They need to be replaced frequently.<\/li>\n<li>Recurring costs arise.<\/li>\n<li>The patient becomes increasingly frustrated.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In short: The system requires too much force for this patient to handle.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div><div  class='flex_column Titanmagnetics) offers sign<strong>ificant advantages:<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Significantly easier insertion and removal<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Self-aligning positioning<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Less force required<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>No matrix changes<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is a real game-changer, especially for patients with limited fine motor skills<\/p>\n<h4>The conversion is that easy<\/h4>\n<p>The conversion is straightforward and quick:<\/p>\n<p><strong>In the mouth:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Locator-attachments are unscrewed<\/li>\n<li>Magnetic attachments are screwed in (Fig. 4)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>In the prosthesis:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Old matrices are removed<\/li>\n<li>The prosthesis is prepared for magnets (Fig. 5)<\/li>\n<li>The prosthesis magnets are incorporated (Fig. 6)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The result: A new retention system \u2013 without significant effort for the patient or practitioner. The accessories for attaching the prosthetic magnets directly to the chair protect the areas around the implant abutment from the adhesive.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The result<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After the switch, an improvement is usually immediately apparent:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The patient can insert and remove the prosthesis independently.<\/li>\n<li>No more biting required.<\/li>\n<li>Significantly less wear and tear.<\/li>\n<li>Greater security and quality of life.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Not every retention force is automatically good.<\/p>\n<p>Especially for older patients or those with limited hand function, the prosthetic system should be <strong>tailored to the individual situation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Magnetic attachment systems like Titanmagnetics are
