What are obturators?
Obturators are used to close, cover or to fill large defects. In case of difficult geometries or for easier supply or remove of larger obturators it is helpful to built segmented obturators. The single parts can be coupled with magnets. Our special obturator magnets are available in different strengths for acrylic or with additional retention ring for silicone. Two-part obturators can be closed with a prosthesis base. For extended mid-facial defects, a multi-partial linking with an orbital and/or a nasal prosthesis is possible.
Special obturator magnets
Our spheric magnets with two different forces are available for acrylics and with an additional retention ring for silicone. The diameter of the X-Line (4.8 mm) is 1 mm smaller than the diameter of the Z-Line (5.8 mm). The retention force of the X-Line is 1.6 N (163 g) and 3.0 N (300 g) of the Z-Line.
Plane magnets (W-Line)
The contact surfaces of the W-Line magnets are flat and can be used from both sides. They were especially designed to meet the criteria for septal prostheses, but also work well for coupling other multi-partial prostheses and obturators. W-Line Titanmagnetics are available with and without retention ring for silicone which can be combined.
Our strongest magnet
The Titanmagnetics W-Line is now even flatter (2.65 mm) and at the same time stronger (3.3 N) than the Z-Line. Due to its capsule diameter of 6.8 mm, it still has a strong attraction, even at a further distance (1.0 N at 5 mm distance). It is especially suitable for coupling difficult-to-access segmented obturators.
